These Dusty Paths

By Sarah

A gang of Americans roaming the streets
Of the Mexican barrios, neighborhoods
The streets are more like paths
Brown, dusty, meandering, rut-filled
No longer are these just any streets to me
I have come to love these paths

They lead us to houses
To children
Who stand in the open doorways
Two, three, four of them
Stained clothes, bare feet
Beautiful, deep brown eyes and skin

The fence keeps us at a distance
They don’t trust me
My face
My smile
My skin
My accent
My clothes
There is more than a fence that separates us

We invite them to church
To sing
To play
To listen
To create
To dance
To laugh
To eat
To be kids
It is there that they begin to trust

Their faces change
The eyes that once stared
At the strangers outside the fence
Are now crinkled with laughter
Worlds collide
If just for a day

I will continue to walk these paths
With dust-covered feet
Looking beyond the fences
To meet that unknowing look of a child
With Love

We're Growing

Praise God that our team is growing!

About two weeks ago (if I remember right), Todd and Susanne and their son Austin (12 yrs. old) moved down here. They are acting as support for Rick and Tammie. Todd has came out of a construction background which will be of great use here and Susanne is helping organize meals and everthing that comes along with that...meal planning, food shopping, organinzing all receipts and putting that info into an organized and understandable format...it's very intensive. They made the move right in the middle of the swine flu "pandemic" but they were not swayed. They have Christ as their Rock and trust Him only.

Over the weekend, we had two interns join us here as well. Stephanie and Dan. They're both excited to jump right into the ministry and give their heart.

Please pray for unity in love amongst our team. And not just us as missionaries here but also unity with the nationals we are here to support. It is only through the work of the Holy Spirit that this unity can be achieved.

Also, thank you for your continued support while I'm here in Mexico. I receive letters and gifts and financial support and it always puts a smile on my face. To know you're thinking of me and care about the ministry that's happening here. I am still not fully funded. Please join me in my prayers that at the end of this year I will reach the $14,000 that is needed. God is so good. Each month I receive just enough in my account. For those of you who would like to but do not know how to support me financially, the address is located at the top of my blog by my picture. All gifts are tax-deductible. May God bless you abundantly for being a blessing to me. In ways you don't expect.
